Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee Bill 2023

In November 2022, the Australian Government announced it would create an Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee.

Its role would be to give independent advice to the Government before every Federal Budget on how to tackle disadvantage and create more economic inclusion in Australia.

The Government is now deciding what the law should be to make the Commitee happen.

We think it is important that people with an intellectual disability are included as members of the Committee. People with an intellectual disability face barriers to economic inclusion and have a lot of expertise to share about how to tackle disadvantage and increase economic inclusion.

We made a submission to the Parliament of Australia about what we think the law should say to make sure people with lived experience of economic disadvantage are included in the Committee. You can read our submission here: Inclusion Australia submission to the Economic Advisory Committee Bill 2023
