National Housing and Homelessness Plan
The Australian Government is making a National Housing and Homelessness Plan (the Plan) to help more Australians have access to secure and affordable housing.
The Plan will last for 10 years and talk about ways the federal, state and territory governments will work together with the community to better support people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
The Australian Government made an Issues Paper on Housing and Homelessness in Australia. It talks about some of the big issues people are facing and ways the Plan could solve them. The Government invited people and organisations to share their ideas and experiences about housing and homelessness to help make the Plan.
In our submission, we talked about the barriers to safe, affordable and inclusive housing that people with an intellectual disability face. We made recommendations about what the Government must do to make sure people with an intellectual disability are included in the Plan. We also talked about what the Disability Royal Commission has said about inclusive housing in its Final Report.
