National Advocacy Collective: Supporting the rights of parents with an intellectual disability
The National Advocacy Collective (NAC) is a group of people across Australia who support the rights of parents with an intellectual disability. Inclusion Australia supports the group to do their work in different ways.
There are lots of barriers for parents with an intellectual disability in different systems and parts of the community. The NAC works with governments to make positive change happen.
We wrote a submission to the NDIS Review about what needs to change to make the NDIS work better for parents with an intellectual disability and their families.
We talked to members of the NAC about the challenges they face when trying to access supports in the NDIS and what needs to change.
Members came up with lots of recommendations about how to make the NDIS better for parents with an intellectual disability and their families.
