Lessons from the Disability Royal Commission

Things we have learnt from the Disability Royal Commission to be true for people with an intellectual disability

The Disability Royal Commission made 222 recommendations.

The recommendations are about how to improve laws, policies, and practices to create a more inclusive and fair society that supports the independence of people with disability and their right to live free from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

There are many lessons that have been learnt from the Disability Royal Commission. Below you will find some of the things we have learnt to be true for people with an intellectual disability. You can click on the image to make it bigger.

We are expecting to hear the governments formal response to the Disability Royal Commission and the NDIS Review mid-this year.

We also made a submission to the Department of Social Services (DSS) in February 2024 about the Government’s response to the Disability Royal Commission. In our submission, we talked about what the Government must do to support the rights of people with an intellectual disability: The Australian Government response to the Disability Royal Commission  – Inclusion Australia.
