Checking decisions about Centrelink payments (Administrative Review Council Inquiry on Social Security)

The Australian Government is reviewing how people can ask for a review of decisions about Centrelink payments. We made a joint submission with the Disability Advocacy Network Australia (DANA) about how to make this fairer and more accessible for people with disability – including people with an intellectual disability and their families.

In our submission, we talk about what we have heard from people with disability about the barriers they face when trying to understand or challenge decisions made by Services Australia or the Administrative Review Tribunal. We make recommendations for how the review process can be made clearer, more accessible, and fair for everyone.
