Next Steps in Supported Employment

The Disability Royal Commission looked at how people with disability are treated and made recommendations to make things better.

Some of the recommendations were about work and jobs. This includes:

  • Creating more inclusive employment opportunities
  • Improving the supports people get to find and keep a job
  • Increasing wages

The Department of Social Services (DSS) asked the disability community for feedback on what the Australian Government should do next to improve employment supports and make more of the Disability Royal Commission’s recommendations happen.

We talked to people with an intellectual disability and families about their ideas. Our member organisations ran consultations with their communities. We used everyone’s ideas to write a submission to DSS.

Our submission is available below. An Easy Read version will be available soon.
