Scoping the development of specialised and trauma-informed legal services for victims and survivors of sexual assault

Content Warning: Sexual Assault

In October 2022, the Australian Government announced it would fund the development a new model of legal services to improve the experiences of victims and survivors of sexual assault in the criminal justice system.

The models will be piloted in 3 locations across Australia.

The aim of the pilot is to provide victims and survivors of sexual assault with better access to specialised legal services.

The Attorney-General’s Department opened a public consultation to ask people how the legal model should be developed.

They released a discussion paper talking about the consultation, you can read it here: https://consultations.ag.gov.au/crime/sexual-assault/

Inclusion Australia made a submission to the Attorney-General’s Department to make some recommendations for how to make legal services safer and more accessible to people with an intellectual disability.
