The Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (the Standards) are a set of rules that all public transport providers must follow to make sure that public transport is accessible to people with disability.
This includes buses, trains, trams, ferries, taxis and airlines.
An important aim of the Standards is to make sure public transport providers are meeting their responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
Every 5 years, the Australian Government reviews the Standards to see how well they are working. We made a submission to this review in 2023. You can find it by clicking here.
The Government released an Exposure Draft talking about the changes that would be made.
