NDIS (Integrity and Safeguarding) Bill No. 2 2025

The NDIS Amendment (Integrity and Safeguarding) Bill 2025 (the Bill) is a change to the law to improve safety and prevent harm in the NDIS.

It would give the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission stronger powers to act against providers who do the wrong thing. This includes tougher penalties, stronger banning powers, and new tools to stop misleading or unsafe practices. The Bill also includes some changes to the NDIS.

The Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee is part of the Australian Parliament. It asked for feedback from people with disability, families, advocates and organisations about the Bill.

Inclusion Australia made a submission about how the changes to the law can improve quality, safety and oversight in the NDIS. We made recommendations for how to make sure the changes do not leave anyone worse off.

Inclusion Australia CEO Catherine McAlpine and Principal Advisory Mary Mallett also spoke to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee about the Bill.

We shared evidence about the need for supported decision-making to be directly included in the law.

Catherine said, “We support the recommendation from the NDIS Worker and Provider Registration Taskforce about developing a new branch in the NDIS Commission to build relationships and capability around supporting very small, self-directed supports, including services-for-one.”
